English Gardening School course aims to improve flower show designs

A course aimed at helping designers win awards at flower shows has been launched by the English Gardening School.
The new programme of short courses at the college includes Going for Chelsea Gold taught by the designers Cleve West and Kate Gould.
"The course is aimed a people who are designing already," college vice-principal Simon Pyle said of the one-day course costing £125 on 13 October.
"It aims to help them through the design process and spot pitfalls by covering site-specific design and choosing and working with nurseries."
Pyle added that the diploma course in botanical painting, first launched in 1994, had "consistently" produced winning illustrators.
Anne Marie Evans runs the one-year course, which starts in January 2012, in the college's north-east-facing studio at Chelsea Wharf, London.
